From the Bixby Grand Adventures Club!

July 29, 2008

Greetings from the Grand Adventures Club,

Can you believe that in just about two weeks school will once again be in session? With all the years I spent as a teacher and high school counselor, my system just seems geared to the school calendar. Let's hope that we don't have too many more days of this extreme summer heat when school begins.

Due to the heat I try to keep our summer adventures simple. In July we had the most phenomenal adventure. Fifty-one Grand Adventurers enjoyed a terrific dinner at the Green Onion. No matter which of the five entrees our guests chose, there were only rave reviews on the meal. This restaurant does a terrific job working with large groups! Following dinner we once again climbed aboard our Red Carpet Charter with Ransom Herron keeping us in safe hands as he drove us to the PAC where we were joined by 26 more friends and guests for a fabulous performance of Phantom of The Opera. The cast and crew just gave us a wonderful evening of "Grand" entertainment. All together we had 77 terrific front orchestra seats for a truly Grand Adventure.

Our August adventure will be this Saturday, August 2nd as we travel to Lake Tenkiller and the wonderful Fin and Feather Resort to enjoy lunch (they are not normally open on Saturday but will open for large groups of 40 or more). We are taking about 60 Grand Adventurers for lunch and then on to Tahlequah to enjoy a musical show put on by college students involved in summer performances as The River City Players. We look forward to this with great anticipation. This is my kind of hot summer entertainment as we zip from one air-conditioned place to another.

Please note that our August, September, and October Grand Adventures are sold out. If you are thinking you would like to go on our November or December trips, be sure you get your reservation in early. I already have several names for each of these trips.

If you were unable to attend our First Thursday Luncheon on July 3rd, you missed a real treat! Marilyn Newkirk had 98 of us laughing our way through her wonderful book review of Growing Old Ain't For Wimps! I think most of us felt like the book had been written about us personally. Of course, as usual, Indian Springs Country Club outdid themselves preparing a delicious meal for us. There is simply no one more delightful to work with than Brett Griffiths, their Food and Beverage Director, and his wonderful crew. What a terrific crowd for a Thursday luncheon the day before a three-day weekend for the Fourth of July!

Our August First Thursday Luncheon is coming up this Thursday, August 7th. Don't miss this luncheon where we once again draw from our local talent. Bill Chilcoat and The Ambassadors will present us with another wonderful luncheon program as they bring Southern Gospel to us with their beautiful harmony. Be sure you phone Judy at 369-6613 for a reservation. Remember that the first time you attend a luncheon you are our guest with a free lunch; this is true for those of you who bring guests with you who are potential new Grand Adventurers.

Once again I want to reiterate how very appreciative all of us at Grand Bank are for your continued support. You are our favorite folks in the world! Even through these days of lower CD rates, you have continued to support us and recommend us to your friends. In May we began our fourth year as Grand Bank, Bixby and every day we have more and more of you continuing to move not only your CDs but also your checking accounts to us. It is wonderful to deal with people we know and care for so much; and we want you to know we are there to give you terrific customer service. We would love to serve your checking needs. Please phone Lori (369-6600) or drop by for a cup of coffee (or a bottle of ice water) so she can show you how we can help move your automatic deposits and withdrawals you may have elsewhere. We can make it painless for you to switch checking accounts to us. Providing ALL of our customers with "GRAND" customer service is our priority.

Russ Smith and I want you to know that both of us had trouble with our Voice Mail not recording messages that were left for us this month. If you phoned either of us and did not hear back from us on a question you may have had, please know that we missed some calls and sincerely apologize. Please phone us back; the problem has been repaired!

Looking forward to seeing you at lunch next Thursday,

From the Claremore Grand Adventures Club!

July 31, 2008

Greetings to you from The Grand Adventures Club!

Summer is here and the end of summer is fast approaching. I hope you are enjoying the summer season as well as staying cool!

The Phantom of the Opera was a wonderful evening. We enjoyed a great dinner at the Green Onion and then off to the PAC to enjoy the music of the night! Our great seating provided us with wonderful viewing of the cast. What a treat to see the enormous talent. It was Spectacular!

The Robson Performing Arts Center will be presenting a comedy by Neil Simon Rumors. Performances are August 8th and 9th at 7 P.M... Tickets can be purchased beginning August 4th through Friday, August 8th from 9 AM to 3 PM and Saturday, August 9th from 6 PM to 7 PM. Cost of the tickets: $5 students, $8 seniors, and $10 Adults. This is the first community theatre show at the Robson Performing Arts Center. Rumors is a hilarious comedy about four couples in New York City hoping to celebrate the tenth wedding anniversary of the mayor and his wife. This will be a great evening to see our local talent and to support the beautiful facility we are so fortunate to have - The Robson Performing Arts Center. Make plans to attend!!

Our Second Wednesday Luncheon will be August 13th, 11:30 am. St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 1304 N. Dorothy. Jason Schubert, Curator of the J M Davis Arms & Historical Museum will present an interesting program about the events planned for the museum. Please call Don at 477-3337 for your reservation and bring a friend! Remember…there is no charge for first-time quests attending our Second Wednesday luncheon. We don't want you to miss the luncheon because you have not made a reservation. We will always make room for you. Dress comfortably and enjoy the fellowship as well as a wonderful program and good food. Cost of the luncheon is $8.00.

We appreciate all of you so much and thank you for recommending Grand Bank and the Grand Adventures Club. We invite you to come by for a cup of coffee and to visit with Nikki about your checking needs. Nikki will be happy to show you how we can help move your automatic deposits and withdrawals you may have elsewhere making it easy for you to switch your accounts to us. We want to be your bank.

Another event for us to enjoy in August is the Will Rogers & Wiley Post Fly-In on Sunday, August 17th at 8:30 a.m. The celebration will be at the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch, free admission, breakfast available and enjoy live music. A great opportunity to view vintage aircraft and spend the day with family and friends.

The Mississippi Treasures trip in September will give us the opportunity to see our beautiful country and enjoy the leisure time of the cruise. If you have not paid in full for the trip, balance is due August 22, 2008. In October we will visit the wonderful ancient country of Greece and a cruise of the Greek Islands on our Classical Greece trip.

November will find us on a short trip in our great state of Oklahoma ~ Wind Farms, huge hamburgers, Clydesdales at the Express Ranch ~ see the flyer enclosed! You won't want to miss out on this trip so call Don at 477-3337 as soon as possible to get your name on the list.

I hope you have enjoyed the summer with family and friends as well as traveling with Grand Adventures. The fall season is just around the corner and we will be thinking about the holidays. We will have another Grand Adventures in December. We are in the process of planning the adventure for your enjoyment. Christmas is a wonderful time to reflect on the reason for the season and enjoy the beauty of Christmas.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you at a Grand Adventures event.
